Day 1: Arrival

After an eight hour flight to Amsterdam and a two-hour flight from there to Madrid, everyone is safe and with their respective host families. The process of going through security, checking bags and boarding the flight went very smoothly, with excited students conspiring and planning their Spain adventures.

When we arrived at the Madrid airport, we grouped together after collecting our luggage to let Senor Castellanos deliver messages of self-care and tranquility.

The greetings from our Spanish families and exchange students was filled with excitement, stuttered conversations of English and Spanish, and eager family members meeting their new American sibling.

Since there is no unified plan today or tomorrow, most students will be spending time with their host families, and surely catching up on sleep.
